Scream: Dance of Destiny by Jade Gretz

The air in the sterile conference room crackled with a tension thicker than the holographic projections shimmering in the center. On one side of the polished mahogany table sat Carlton Drake, the CEO of Life Foundation, his face an iron mask of composure. Across from him, Dr. Evelyn Wyndham, the CEO of rival corporation Alchemax Industries, exuded an aura of predatory ambition, her eyes like hungry wolves in a boardroom.

The subject of their tense negotiation wasn't a new energy source or a revolutionary medical treatment. It was a living entity, a sentient symbiote – Scream. Captured years ago by Life Foundation from a tendril of Venom, Scream had been in their custody ever since.

"The symbiote is a force multiplier," Drake began, his voice dripping with calculated smoothness. "It enhances a host's strength, agility, and even grants them a limited form of telepathy. Imagine the tactical applications for military or security purposes."

Evelyn scoffed, the sound sharp and dismissive. "Military applications are so twenty-first century, Mr. Drake. At Alchemax, we see the potential for bio-engineering advancements. With the right host, Scream could be the key to unlocking a new frontier in human evolution."

Drake's smile tightened. He knew Evelyn's ambitions ran deeper. Alchemax was notorious for its unethical experimentation, pushing the boundaries of science without regard for the human cost. Life Foundation, while certainly not saints, at least maintained a facade of benevolent research.

A projection flickered to life, showing a writhing mass of black, gooey tendrils contained within a reinforced glass chamber. Scream, sensing the focus of their attention, pulsed with a malevolent glow, its tendrils lashing out against the glass in a display of impotent rage.

"Scream is highly unstable," Drake continued, hoping to deter Evelyn. "Its last bonded host suffered severe psychological trauma. Any attempt at integration could be… disastrous."

Evelyn's eyes gleamed. "Disaster is a risk we're willing to take at Alchemax. Besides, haven't you learned anything from your failures, Mr. Drake? Your attempts at controlling the symbiotes have proven… unproductive."

Drake's smile faltered for a moment, a flicker of frustration betraying his carefully constructed facade. Life Foundation had indeed suffered significant losses in their attempts to manipulate the symbiotes – riots, escapes, even a few grisly fatalities.

The holographic projection shifted, showcasing a news report detailing the devastation caused by the symbiote Riot, a spawn of Venom. It was a powerful reminder of the destructive potential these alien creatures possessed.

A bead of sweat trickled down Drake's temple. He knew Alchemax wouldn't hesitate to unleash Scream, consequences be damned. The thought of that power falling into the wrong hands sent a shiver down his spine.

"There is another option," Drake blurted out, surprising himself. He needed a solution, something to keep Scream out of Evelyn's clutches. An idea, dangerous but potentially advantageous, swam to the surface of his mind.

Evelyn arched a skeptical eyebrow. "Do tell."

"We merge our resources," Drake proposed, his voice gaining conviction. "A joint research initiative. We can combine our technology and expertise to explore the symbiote's potential while ensuring its safe containment."

Evelyn considered the offer, her expression unreadable. It was an unorthodox proposal, but it promised access to Scream's power without the sole responsibility of managing its volatility.

"Intriguing," she finally said, a hint of a predatory smile playing on her lips. "But what if the results are… fruitful? How do we decide who gets the benefits?"

Drake anticipated this question. "We share the data, the technological breakthroughs. But control of the symbiote itself… that remains with Life Foundation."

For a tense moment, Evelyn seemed to weigh the offer. Finally, a slow, predatory smile spread across her face. "Deal, Mr. Drake," she said, her voice dripping with something that wasn't quite triumph. "But consider this an alliance of convenience, not friendship. The next groundbreaking discovery… that won't be shared."

With a cold handshake that sealed the pact, the two rivals embarked on a chilling collaboration. Life Foundation scientists, under the watchful eyes of Alchemax representatives, began their research. The sterile lab buzzed with activity as scanners probed the s
