Power Girl: Might of Krypton by Jade Gretz

Power Girl stood on the precipice of Stryker's Island, the familiar, comforting view of Metropolis replaced by a scene ripped from a nightmare. The once pristine prison complex, a symbol of justice, was now a twisted monument to chaos. Towers lay in smoldering ruins, razor-sharp shards of concrete thrusting toward the blood-red sky. Grotesque, pulsing tumors pulsated on the remaining buildings, oozing a sickly green goo that dripped and sizzled on the fractured asphalt.

It had all happened so fast. A cryptic message, whispers of an impending event, and then… pandemonium. Supervillains, minor and major, materialized seemingly out of thin air, descending upon Metropolis like a swarm of ravenous locusts. Livewire, banshee wails splitting the air, conjured electrified storms that lashed the city skyline. Doctor Psycho, his eyes glowing with manic glee, orchestrated a city-wide puppet show, twisting civilians' minds and turning neighbor against neighbor. And then there was Darkseid, his imposing figure radiating an aura of cold, oppressive power at the heart of the chaos.

Supergirl, her younger cousin, lay unconscious at Power Girl's feet, victim of a surprise attack by Livewire. Fury, hot and white-hot, threatened to consume Kara, as Power Girl cradled her, willing her to wake. This wasn't just Metropolis under siege; this was personal. But the city's terrified screams, the sight of twisted minds and collapsing buildings, reminded her of the bigger picture. Today, Kara was collateral damage, but the city, her adopted home, needed her.

Taking a deep breath, Power Girl steeled herself. Worrying about Supergirl wouldn't save the day. She gently placed Kara down in a sheltered alcove, a Kryptonian prayer whispering on her lips. With a final glance at her fallen cousin, she launched herself into the heart of the madness.

Stryker's Island was a warzone. Livewire, crackling with an electrical aura, cackled maniacally as she unleashed another bolt of lightning, striking a fleeing police car. Power Girl, a blur of blue and white, slammed into Livewire with the force of a speeding train. The electrical discharge crackled harmlessly against Power Girl's enhanced Kryptonian skin. But the pain in Livewire's eyes, a fleeting glimpse of fear before a psychotic glint replaced it, sent a shiver down Power Girl's spine.

There was no time for philosophical ponderings. Dodging a hail of razor-sharp shrapnel courtesy of Metallo, Power Girl caught sight of Toyman gleefully raining down twisted, nightmarish toys upon a group of huddled civilians. With a flying leap, she snatched the monstrous teddy bear that Toyman had flung, its sewn-on smile grotesque in the red light.

"Toyman, enough!" Power Girl roared, her voice a beacon of defiance in the chaos.

Toyman, a portly man with a crazed gleam in his eyes, merely cackled. "Playtime's just begun, Big Girl!" he shrieked, unleashing a swarm of miniature robots armed with miniature lasers.

Power Girl fought with a desperate intensity, her super strength bulldozing through the robots, but there were too many. Frustration gnawed at her. Supergirl, with her heat vision, could have melted these things in seconds. A pang of guilt stabbed at her, but she pushed it down. Now wasn't the time.

The battle raged across Stryker's Island. Power Girl fought her way towards the heart of the chaos, towards Darkseid. Every fiber of her being screamed for vengeance for Kara, but logic restrained her. Darkseid wasn't just powerful, he was a strategist. He was behind this, pulling the strings of these lesser villains. To defeat him, she needed a plan.

Suddenly, a wave of pure terror washed over her. Not her terror, something else. She spun around, her enhanced vision searching for the source. There, amidst the smoking ruins of a collapsed guard tower, she saw Metallo. His robotic enhancements, usually dull grey, pulsed with a sickly green light, mirroring the same light from the tumors on the buildings. His eyes, glowing with a malevolent intelligence that wasn't Metallo's own, locked onto Power Girl.

A wave of nausea swept through her, a chilling premonition. Metallo wasn't just enhanced; he was possessed. Something, some entity far more monstrous than any human villain, was controlling him.

This wasn't just an attack by supervillains; it was an invasion. A silent invasion using their greatest enemies like puppets. Panic threatened to overwhelm her, but Power Girl slammed the brakes on her emotions. Panic wouldn't sav
