Phantoms of the Dark Arena:

Cammy White opened her eyes to a disorienting swirl of darkness. The last thing she remembered was being deep in a mission, infiltrating a Shadaloo base hidden in the heart of the Brazilian jungle. The air had been thick with the scent of wet earth, the sounds of the night jungle alive with the chirping of insects and the occasional rustle of a predator. She had been so close to finding the intel she needed when the ground had suddenly given way beneath her, plunging her into an inky black abyss.

Now, she stood in the center of a vast arena, the ground beneath her feet a cold, hard stone that echoed with each of her cautious steps. The air was frigid, cutting through her combat suit and biting into her skin. It was a stark contrast to the humid warmth of the jungle, and the sudden change in temperature made her shiver involuntarily.

Above her, the sky was a swirling mass of dark clouds, tinged with shades of purple and black, as if the heavens themselves were bruised. Flashes of sickly green lightning illuminated the clouds, but there was no thunder, only an eerie silence that pressed in on her from all sides. The only sound was the rhythmic thumping of her own heartbeat, pounding in her ears as she tried to make sense of her surroundings.

Cammy's instincts screamed that this place was wrong—unnatural. She could feel it in her bones, a deep, primal fear that she hadn't experienced in years. It was as though the very air around her was alive, watching her, waiting for her to make a mistake. She spun around, her eyes scanning the arena's perimeter, searching for any sign of an exit or a threat.

The arena itself was massive, its boundaries shrouded in darkness. Pillars of twisted stone rose up from the ground, their surfaces etched with strange, glowing runes that pulsed with an otherworldly energy. The floor was covered in a fine layer of dust that seemed to swirl around her boots as she moved, as if disturbed by some unseen force.

Cammy's breath came in short, controlled bursts as she reached for the communicator in her ear, but there was no signal. Whatever this place was, it was far beyond the reach of any modern technology. She was truly alone.

A sound echoed through the arena—a low, haunting moan that sent a chill down her spine. Cammy whipped around, her body tensing as she dropped into a defensive stance. The moan grew louder, more distinct, until it became a cacophony of wails and screams, the anguished cries of souls in torment.

From the shadows, figures began to emerge. At first, they were nothing more than wisps of smoke, but as they drew closer, they took on a more solid form. Ghostly apparitions, clad in tattered armor and wielding spectral weapons, materialized before her, their eyes glowing with an unnatural light. These were not ordinary enemies; they were the spirits of warriors long dead, bound to this cursed arena by forces beyond Cammy's understanding.

One by one, the phantoms closed in on her, their faces twisted in expressions of rage and despair. Cammy's training took over, her mind clearing of all fear as she assessed the situation. These spirits were unlike anything she had ever faced, but she would not be cowed by the supernatural. She was a soldier, a fighter, and she would do whatever it took to survive.

The first phantom lunged at her, its ghostly blade slicing through the air with a high-pitched wail. Cammy dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding the strike, and countered with a swift roundhouse kick. Her foot passed through the phantom's body with no resistance, as if it were made of smoke.

The ghost let out a furious screech, its form flickering and distorting. Cammy realized she couldn't fight these creatures as she would a living opponent. They were incorporeal, immune to physical attacks. She needed to find another way to defeat them.

Another phantom charged at her, its spear aimed at her chest. Cammy backflipped out of the way, her mind racing. She remembered the glowing runes on the pillars and the strange energy they emitted. Perhaps those runes held the key to defeating the spirits.

As the phantoms closed in around her, Cammy made a split-second decision. She sprinted toward one of the pillars, ducking and weaving to avoid the spectral weapons that slashed at her from all sides. The ghosts pursued her, their movements becoming more frantic as she neared the glowing runes.

With a leap, Cammy reached the pillar and pressed her hand again
