Title: "Inferno in the Garden"

Chapter 12: The Garden of Flames

The sun was beginning to set over Gotham, casting long shadows across the sprawling greenery of Poison Ivy’s secluded sanctuary. Hidden deep within the heart of Robinson Park, her lush garden was a verdant paradise, untouched by the grime and corruption that plagued the rest of the city. Towering trees with thick, emerald leaves formed a natural canopy overhead, and below, a rich tapestry of flowering plants and creeping vines wove a living carpet, vibrant with colors that defied the urban decay surrounding them. The air was thick with the heady scent of jasmine, mingling with the earthy aroma of rich, damp soil.

Ivy—no longer Pamela Isley—stood at the heart of her domain, her delicate fingers brushing the petals of a particularly striking rose. The flower was a deep, almost unnatural red, a creation of her own design, nurtured to perfection in the fertile soil of her garden. She smiled faintly as the rose bent toward her touch, recognizing her as its creator, its mother.

But the tranquil scene was suddenly marred by a sharp, acrid scent that made Ivy’s nose wrinkle in distaste. It was the unmistakable smell of burning, a stench that did not belong in her paradise. Her emerald eyes narrowed, scanning the perimeter of her garden, searching for the source of the intrusion.

The first sign of trouble came in the form of a thin wisp of smoke curling through the leaves of a nearby oak. Ivy’s heart skipped a beat as she realized what was happening. Someone—or something—was setting fire to her garden.

With a wave of her hand, the plants around her responded to her silent command, stretching and twisting to form a living shield against the approaching flames. Ivy’s connection to the plant life was more than just control; it was a symbiotic bond. She could feel the panic of the trees, the flowers, the grass as they sensed the fire creeping closer, a deadly force that threatened to consume them all.

“Who dares to defile my sanctuary?” Ivy hissed, her voice laced with venom as she stepped toward the source of the smoke.

As if in answer to her challenge, the flames suddenly roared to life, consuming an entire row of shrubs in a matter of seconds. The fire was no ordinary blaze; it moved with purpose, coiling and twisting like a living thing, feeding hungrily on the plant life that Ivy had so carefully cultivated.

And then, out of the inferno, a figure emerged.

He was tall, with broad shoulders and a muscular frame, his skin glowing with an unnatural heat. His eyes were the color of molten lava, burning with a malevolent intensity. He was clad in armor that seemed to shimmer with heat, the metal glowing red-hot in places, and in his hand, he held a sword wreathed in flames.

Ivy’s eyes widened as she recognized him. This was no ordinary arsonist—this was Pyre, a villain whose control over fire was legendary in the underworld. He was a force of nature, a man who reveled in destruction, and now he had come for her.

“Ivy,” Pyre called out, his voice a deep, resonant rumble that carried over the crackling flames. “I’ve heard tales of your power, of the beauty of your garden. But let’s see how well you fare when everything you love is reduced to ash.”

Ivy clenched her fists, her nails digging into the soft flesh of her palms. The plants around her shuddered in response to her rising anger, their leaves curling inward as if to protect themselves from the heat.

“This garden is under my protection,” Ivy replied, her voice cold and steady. “You will not destroy what I have built.”

Pyre chuckled darkly, raising his sword. The flames along its blade flared, casting an eerie glow across his face. “We’ll see about that, Ivy. Fire consumes all. Even you.”

With a flick of his wrist, Pyre sent a wave of fire hurtling toward her. The flames surged forward, devouring everything in their path. Ivy barely had time to react, but her instincts kicked in. She raised her arms, and the ground beneath her feet erupted with life. Massive vines shot up from the earth, forming a protective barrier around her. The flames collided with the vines, but instead of burning, the plants absorbed the fire, drawing its energy into themselves.

Pyre’s eyes narrowed as he watched his attack falter. “Impressive,” he muttered. “But how long can you keep it up?”

Ivy didn’t answer. Instead, she focused on the vines, urging them to grow, to expand, to reach out an
