Ashley Graham: Echoes in the Castle's Abyss by Jade Gretz

Ashley Graham, once a celebrated model, now a shivering mess huddled in a corner of the deserted cathedral, felt a familiar despair creep in. The air hung heavy with the stench of decay, punctuated by the guttural groans that echoed through the vaulted halls. It had been days since the nightmare began, days of relentless pursuit, of witnessing horrors that would scar her soul forever.

President Graham's daughter, a coveted fashion icon, was now a survivor, her designer dresses replaced by Leon S. Kennedy's spare field jacket, its rough fabric a stark contrast to the luxurious silks she was accustomed to. Hunger gnawed at her stomach, a constant reminder of their dwindling rations.

The events unfolded in a fever dream. One moment she was on a private jet, whisked away to a secret location, the next she was thrust into a maelstrom of chaos. The idyllic Spanish town, its cobbled streets and quaint plazas, was overrun by a horrifying plague – the Las Plagas. Villagers with vacant eyes and an insatiable hunger for flesh shambled through the streets.

Leon, a government agent tasked with her rescue, had become her unlikely guardian angel. He was a jaded man, haunted by past battles, but his gruff demeanor hid a well of compassion. He trained her to hold a gun, his weathered hands guiding hers over the cold metal grip. Ashley, with a steely resolve born out of desperation, proved to be a quick learner.

Their escape from the village had been fraught with peril. They navigated labyrinthine sewers, dodging grotesque creatures spawned from the Plagas parasite. Ashley, her once-manicured nails now broken and caked with blood, fought alongside Leon, every bullet a desperate gamble for survival.

Now, they found themselves trapped in the cathedral, the stained glass windows casting an eerie glow on the decaying interior. The initial horde they'd encountered had been dispatched, but Ashley knew this was only a temporary reprieve. More infected lurked within the vast halls, drawn by the faint scent of human flesh.

"We can't stay here," Leon muttered, his voice a low growl. "We need to find a way out."

Ashley nodded, her heart hammering a frantic rhythm against her ribs. Fear, a persistent companion, threatened to overwhelm her. Yet, amidst the terror, a flicker of defiance sparked. She wouldn't let this consume her. She couldn't.

Suddenly, a sickening creak tore through the stillness. A colossal wooden door, its surface adorned with grotesque carvings, groaned open, revealing a passage bathed in an unearthly green light. A wave of fetid air washed over them, carrying the unmistakable stench of decay and something far more sinister.

"What is that?" Ashley whispered, her voice barely audible above the pounding of her heart.

Leon's eyes narrowed. "I don't know," he admitted, his voice devoid of his usual confidence. "But it doesn't look good."

A low growl, primal and menacing, echoed from the passage. It was like nothing they had encountered before, filled with a raw, animalistic hunger. Ashley's blood ran cold. This wasn't just another infected villager; this was something different, something far more terrifying.

Before they could deliberate further, a hulking figure emerged from the green mist. It was a monstrous amalgamation of flesh and bone, its body contorted into a grotesque parody of humanity. Glowing yellow eyes, devoid of any semblance of life, locked onto them.

Ashley stumbled back, a scream lodged in her throat. This was more than she was prepared for. Leon, ever the stoic warrior, leveled his gun, firing a barrage of bullets. The creature flinched with each impact, but it didn't falter.

The hulking figure charged, a monstrous roar echoing through the cathedral. Leon pushed Ashley aside, shoving her behind a crumbling altar. "Stay there!" he shouted, his voice ragged.

Ashley watched in horror as Leon engaged the creature in a brutal fight. His combat skills, honed through years of battling the undead, were impressive, but this new enemy was unlike anything he had faced before.

With a sickening crack, one of Leon's kicks connected with the creature's jaw. The beast reeled back momentarily, but the victory was short-lived. It lunged forward, a razor-sharp claw tearing through Leon's arm.

A scream ripped from Ashley's throat. It was a primal sound, born of terror and a dawning realization that she couldn't rely solely on Leon. He was hurt, and if they were to survive, she needed to act.
