The Dark Matter Entity:

The cosmos lay sprawled before her, an infinite tapestry of stars, nebulae, and black holes that had always seemed both familiar and mysterious. Captain Marvel—Carol Danvers—soared through the boundless void, her golden hair whipping around her as the vacuum of space passed her by like a silent, eternal ocean. Yet despite the vastness, she could feel it. A disturbance. A wrongness that gnawed at the very fabric of the universe itself. Something ancient. Something dark.

It had started as a whisper. A low, almost imperceptible hum that had rippled through the interstellar communication channels. Planets disappearing, entire star systems engulfed by an impenetrable black fog, leaving nothing but silence in their wake. The Kree had been the first to alert her—though they were often loath to admit weakness, their distress signals had been frantic. The last transmission she received had been garbled, filled with panic: "It’s not of this universe. We—"

Then, nothing.

Carol hovered, her form glowing with radiant cosmic energy. She could feel the pull now, tugging at her senses. The source was nearby. Whatever it was, it was close enough to feel like a cold hand on the back of her neck, sending an unnatural shiver through her spine.

She steeled herself. Fear was not something Captain Marvel often entertained, but this was different. This wasn’t just another rogue alien warlord or a planetary invasion. This was something primal—something from beyond the known universe.

She approached the edge of a dying star system, and her eyes widened at the sight before her. There, suspended in the void like a festering wound in space, was a massive, swirling mass of blackness. It was unlike any nebula or black hole she had ever seen. It pulsed and writhed as though it was alive, its tendrils of dark matter stretching out and devouring everything in its path. Stars flickered and disappeared as they were consumed by the entity, their light snuffed out in an instant.

Carol clenched her fists, her hands glowing brighter as she gathered energy. She had faced world-ending threats before, but this… this felt beyond anything she had ever encountered.

As she drifted closer, the pull of the dark mass intensified. It felt as though the universe itself was warping around it, bending to its unnatural gravity. And then she heard it. Not with her ears, but in her mind. A voice—cold, ancient, and malevolent.

“I am the Void. The Dark Matter. The End of All Things.”

Carol’s heart pounded, but she kept her face stern, unyielding. “I don’t care what you are,” she growled, her voice echoing through the silence of space. “I’m here to stop you.”

The entity seemed to ripple in response, its dark tendrils coiling and expanding. “You cannot stop what has no beginning, no end. I am the force that exists between the stars, the darkness that predates light. You are a mere spark, a fleeting flame that I will extinguish.”

Without warning, the dark mass surged forward, tendrils of pure darkness shooting toward her like hungry serpents. Carol reacted instantly, blasting forward with incredible speed, her body a streak of golden light against the backdrop of space. She dodged the first few tendrils, but the entity was faster than anything she had ever faced. One of the dark tendrils wrapped around her leg, pulling her backward with tremendous force.

She gritted her teeth, a surge of energy erupting from her body. The tendril disintegrated in a flash of light, but more followed. She fired energy blasts from her hands, each one hitting its mark, but for every tendril she destroyed, two more took its place. The entity’s voice echoed in her mind, mocking her efforts.

“You fight in vain, Captain Marvel. The more you resist, the more you feed me.”

Carol cursed under her breath. She could feel it—her energy was fueling the entity. Each blast of her cosmic power seemed to only make the dark matter grow stronger, its tendrils multiplying, thickening, until they were wrapping around her from all sides.

She tried to pull away, but the darkness was overwhelming. It latched onto her arms, her legs, her torso, constricting her like the coils of a monstrous serpent. She struggled, her energy flaring brighter and brighter, but it was no use. The more she fought, the tighter the entity’s grip became. Her vision began to blur as the darkness seeped into her mind, filling her thoughts with despair, with hopelessness.

“I hav
