The air in Titans Tower was unnaturally still, heavy with the kind of oppressive silence that only precedes a storm. Raven sat alone in the meditation room, her legs folded beneath her, floating a few inches above the floor in a pose that reflected her need for peace. But there was no peace to be found today. Beneath her composed exterior, waves of anxiety crashed against the fragile barriers she had built over the years. Something was coming, and she could feel its presence slithering through the corners of her mind like a shadow.

For days, her dreams had been fractured and incomplete, glimpses of something dark pulling at the edge of her consciousness. But last night, it had escalated. She had been plunged into a vivid nightmare that felt too real, too purposeful. In the dream, a swirling mass of chaotic energy had coalesced into a being that called her by name, its voice an unsettling mixture of whispering winds and the gnashing of teeth. It taunted her, luring her deeper into her own subconscious, threatening to tear apart the fragile veil between the dream world and the waking one.

Today, she felt its influence even in the waking world.

Raven opened her eyes, her glowing purple irises reflecting the dim light of the room. She couldn’t ignore the threat any longer. She had to confront this entity, whatever it was, before it found a way to manifest itself in the real world. But to do so, she would need to enter the one place she feared most: the Realm of Nightmares, a dimension woven from the fears and subconscious dreads of every sentient being.

Her breath caught in her throat for a moment. The last time she had ventured into the Realm of Nightmares, she had barely escaped with her sanity intact. But she had no choice. If she let this entity grow, unchecked, it could spread beyond her dreams, infecting the minds of others, dragging them into a living hell from which there would be no escape.

Raven steeled herself and began to chant under her breath, her voice low and deliberate: "*Azarath Metrion Zinthos*."

The world around her shimmered and darkened. The walls of Titans Tower dissolved into an inky blackness, as the familiar reality she knew slipped away. She was falling now, plummeting through a vast expanse of nothingness, with no up or down, no sense of direction. Her cloak billowed around her as she descended, her arms stretched outward, feeling for the inevitable pull of the nightmare realm.

Suddenly, her fall stopped. She found herself suspended in a skyless, starless world—a void, but not one of emptiness. This place was filled with something far more insidious. It was thick with an energy that clawed at her mind, seeping into her thoughts like cold fingers probing through her consciousness. Shapes flickered at the edge of her vision—monstrous forms that disappeared the moment she tried to focus on them.

The Realm of Nightmares was alive, and it was watching her.

A voice echoed from the darkness, dripping with malice. “Welcome, Raven. You’ve come at last. I’ve been waiting for you.”

Raven’s heart pounded in her chest, but her voice remained steady. “I’m not here for games. Show yourself.”

From the void, a figure began to materialize, a grotesque mass of swirling shadows that took the shape of a humanoid figure. Its eyes were two burning coals of hatred, and its mouth twisted into a jagged, unnatural grin. Its body seemed to be made of nightmares themselves, constantly shifting, its edges blurring as though it could barely maintain a solid form.

“I am Abyssus,” it whispered, the sound crawling across Raven’s skin like a swarm of spiders. “The lord of this realm… and soon, your master.”

Raven’s eyes narrowed. “I’ve faced demons stronger than you, Abyssus. You’re nothing but a parasite, feeding off the fears of others.”

Abyssus chuckled, a sound like bones snapping. “Oh, but that’s where you’re wrong, little empath. I don’t just feed on fear. I create it. I am fear incarnate. And you, my dear, are my greatest prize.”

With a flick of its hand, Abyssus sent a wave of darkness hurtling toward her. Raven barely had time to react, throwing up a protective barrier around herself. The shadows crashed against it, shrieking as they tried to break through. But this was no ordinary attack—Raven could feel it worming into her mind, seeking out her deepest fears, her darkest memories.

For a moment, her concentration wavered. Images flashed through her mind—her father, Trigon, towe
