The humid Gotham night clung to Selina Kyle like a second skin. Clad in her trademark black leather, she crouched atop a gargoyle, its grotesque grin mirroring the bitter twist on her own lips. Below, in the sprawling heart of Arkham Asylum, a battle raged. Batman, a dark blur of focused fury, faced off against Poison Ivy, a verdant vision of twisted beauty.
But Selina's concern wasn't for the Bat. It was for Ivy. For the woman with emerald eyes and chlorophyll-kissed skin who harbored a love as wild and thorny as the vines that coiled around her wrists. A love that mirrored, in its own twisted way, the affection Selina harbored for the Dark Knight himself.
Theirs was a twisted triangle, a dance of shadows and thorns. Selina, the sleek, cunning cat burglar; Batman, the stoic protector of Gotham; and Poison Ivy, the eco-warrior gone rogue, her love for the planet bleeding into a warped obsession.
Tonight, that obsession had led Ivy back to Gotham, back to Arkham, back to Batman. A part of Selina loathed the emerald-haired siren, loathed the way Ivy's poisonous touch could ensnare his mind, turn him into a green-obsessed shadow of his former self. But another part, a vulnerable part she'd kept buried beneath layers of cynicism and wit, envied Ivy's uninhibited passion.
The fight was a brutal ballet. Batman, honed to relentless perfection, weaved through barrages of razor-sharp vines, his batarangs finding their mark with deadly precision. Ivy, a whirlwind of botanical fury, summoned thorny tendrils from the cracked asphalt, her laughter echoing through the grimy halls.
Selina watched, her heart twisting with each blow landed, with each venomous hiss from Ivy. She knew what this was about. Ivy, locked away in the sterile confines of Arkham, yearned for something wild, something untamed. She yearned for Batman, his stoicism a challenge she craved to conquer, his darkness a reflection of her own.
And in her twisted logic, conquering Batman meant saving Gotham, saving the world. A world she choked with twisted vines and poisonous blooms.
Suddenly, Ivy gained the upper hand. With a deafening roar, a monstrous plant-creature burst through the ceiling, its roots snaking towards Batman. He was trapped, pinned beneath its leafy maw. A strangled cry escaped his lips, swallowed by the din of the battle.
Selina couldn't let this happen. Not just because she couldn't bear to see him hurt, but because she couldn't let Ivy win. Batman, flawed as he was, was the balance Gotham needed. Without him, Ivy's chaotic vision would consume everything.
With a silent prayer lodged in her throat, Selina leaped. A blur of black and agility, she bypassed the monstrous plant, her eyes fixed on Ivy. Just as Ivy was about to unleash a final, lethal dose of pollen, Selina reached her.
Their clash was a whirlwind of emerald fury and midnight grace. Selina, nimble as a cat, dodged tendrils laced with toxins, her whip snapping out like a viper's strike, wrapping around Ivy's wrist. A gasp escaped the redhead as Selina used the leverage to yank her off balance.
But Ivy wasn't easily defeated. With a feral snarl, she lashed out with her free hand, razor-sharp thorns slicing through Selina's leather, drawing a gasp and a slick of crimson. The metallic tang of blood filled Selina's mouth, but she pushed the pain aside, focusing on her goal.
"Ivy, stop!" she hissed, her voice sharp with desperation. "This isn't you! This is about proving something, not saving anything!"
Ivy's emerald eyes blazed with a wild fury. "You wouldn't understand, Cat," she spat, her voice laced with a bitter venom. "He's destroying the world, all of it, with his metal claws and his batmobiles!"
Selina felt a pang of sympathy for the woman before her. Ivy's love for the planet, twisted as it was, was genuine. She needed an outlet, a way to channel her passion that wasn't destructive.
But logic wouldn't win this fight. Selina needed to appeal to the woman beneath the vines, the woman who, beneath the twisted obsession, might have felt a bond with her – a shared love for a man who couldn't express his own affections.
So, taking a deep breath, Selina changed her tactics. "He... he cares for Gotham," she said, her voice quieter now, laced with a vulnerability she rarely showed. "He wants to protect it, just like you do… in your own way."
