Data Delight: Judy's Cyberpunk Fantasia by Jade Gretz

Rain lashed against the rusted corrugated roof of Night City's underbelly, mimicking the storm brewing within Judy Alvarez. Her hazel eyes, usually brimming with warmth, were now clouded with a chilling resolve as she stalked through the neon-drenched alleys. Each flickering sign cast grotesque shadows that danced in rhythm with the pounding in her chest.

For weeks, Judy had been consumed by a singular purpose – finding those responsible for the brutal and senseless murder of Evelyn Parker, a young woman she had befriended and cared for. The city's indifference to Evelyn's life, and the seemingly endless bureaucracy, had fueled Judy's rage, pushing her towards the very edge.

Tonight, however, armed with a stolen datashard containing a potential lead, Judy felt a sliver of hope pierce through the suffocating darkness. The shard pointed her towards a notorious scrapyard, known for its dealings in the city's shadowy underground.

Clad in a black trench coat that concealed her signature pink hair, Judy blended into the night, her cybernetic arm a cold comfort against the city's pervasive sense of decay. The air reeked of burnt oil, sewage, and a metallic tang that hung heavy in the air. Each step felt heavier than the last, the anticipation a physical weight pressing down on her.

Reaching the scrapyard, a labyrinth of twisted metal and abandoned vehicles, Judy activated the thermal vision function in her goggles. The desolate landscape before her shimmered, revealing outlines of hulking figures lurking within the shadows. Each figure held a weapon, their silhouettes radiating a sense of coldblooded menace.

With a deep breath, Judy steeled herself and stepped into the scrapyard. The moment she did, a guttural voice boomed from the darkness.

"Hold it right there, doll," the voice grated, followed by the sharp click of a gun being cocked.

Three figures materialized from the shadows, their faces obscured by hoods. Fear threatened to crack Judy's resolve, but the image of Evelyn's lifeless face flashed in her mind, fueling her with a cold fury.

"I'm here for Maelstrom," Judy stated, her voice raspy with forced calm. "I have information they might be interested in."

One of the figures, his cybernetic eye glowing red in the darkness, stepped forward. "Information comes at a price, doll," he snarled.

"Name your price," Judy said, her hand instinctively reaching towards the hidden blade strapped to her thigh.

The figure chuckled, a chilling sound that echoed in the stillness. "You got guts, I'll give you that. But information ain't enough. You gotta prove you're serious."

He gestured towards a hulking brute standing beside him. "Skinner here likes to… test the newcomers."

Skinner, a towering figure with cybernetic enhancements that resembled butcher's tools, cracked his knuckles, a malevolent grin splitting his face. Fear and disgust warred within Judy, but she knew giving in to fear meant losing Evelyn forever.

Taking a deep breath, she activated her cybernetic arm, the metallic limb transforming into a brutal combat extension. The alley fell silent, the only sound the steady hammering of her heart.

The fight was a blur of adrenaline and violence. Judy, fueled by her grief and rage, fought like a woman possessed. Her cybernetic arm, enhanced with brutal efficiency, clashed with Skinner's grotesque weaponry.

The other Maelstrom members watched, their faces a mix of amusement and morbid curiosity. The fight wasn't about information anymore; it was about survival and proving her worth.

The battle, though brutal, ended quickly. Judy, battered and bruised, managed to disarm Skinner, the tip of her blade inches from his throat. His bravado had dissipated, replaced by a primal fear that mirrored her own.

"Tell me… what you know… about Evelyn Parker," Judy rasped, her voice ragged with exertion.

Skinner, defeated and gasping for air, mumbled a name – "Mr. Blue." A name whispered in the shadows, synonymous with the darkest corners of Night City's criminal underworld.

The information gleaned, Judy stumbled out of the scrapyard, leaving the Maelstrom members to their misery. The rain had stopped, but the city lights seemed to cast even longer shadows. The victory tasted like ash in her mouth, a stark reminder of the price of revenge.

Back in her cramped apartment, staring at the glowing data shards containing Mr. Blue's known haunts, Judy felt a hollow victory. Revenge,
