The wind howled through the vast estate of the Rochefort family, carrying with it an ominous chill that clung to the ornate stone walls of the mansion like a ghostly veil. Night had fallen over Monaco, and the moon hung low, casting an eerie silver glow over the grand gardens that stretched out before the mansion. The estate, normally a symbol of elegance and power, now seemed like a fortress on the brink of siege. Shadows crept along the cobbled pathways and ancient statues that lined the estate grounds, and the stillness was punctuated only by the soft rustling of leaves in the wind.

Lili Rochefort stood at the edge of her family’s balcony, the silk of her white dress fluttering in the wind. Her platinum-blonde hair glimmered in the moonlight, falling over her shoulders like a curtain of gold. She looked out across the estate with cold, calculating eyes, her elegant features betraying nothing of the turmoil she felt inside.

She had known this day would come.

It had started with whispers in the dark, rumors of mercenaries hired to target her family—mercenaries who didn’t care about honor, only about gold. The Rochefort fortune was legendary, and there were those who sought to take it by any means necessary. Lili’s father, once a powerful and respected figure in the world of business, had fallen ill in recent months, leaving the estate vulnerable.

But Lili was no ordinary heiress. She had been raised in a world of privilege, yes, but also in one of danger and intrigue. Beneath her refined exterior lay a cunning mind and lethal skill set that belied her delicate appearance. Martial arts had been her passion for as long as she could remember, and over the years, she had honed her abilities in secret, away from the prying eyes of her father's circle. Now, those skills would be put to the ultimate test.

The attack would come tonight. She could feel it in the air, in the way the shadows seemed to stretch longer than usual, in the unnatural quiet that had settled over the estate. She had sent the staff away hours earlier, instructing them to seek refuge in the nearby town. Her father, too, had been taken to a safe house, where he could recover without the threat looming over him. But Lili stayed.

Because this was her fight.

A soft chime echoed from inside the mansion, a signal from her security system. They were here. The mercenaries had breached the outer perimeter.

Lili turned, her gaze shifting to the grand hall behind her. The opulence of the mansion contrasted sharply with the danger she knew lurked just beyond the walls. Chandeliers hung like crystal constellations from the ceiling, casting their soft glow over the marble floors and gilded furniture. But tonight, the hall felt like a battleground, a place where violence would soon erupt.

Her bare feet made no sound as she walked down the winding staircase, her every movement graceful yet purposeful. She had dressed for battle in her own way—her white silk dress flowed elegantly as she moved, but beneath its delicate folds, she wore tight, flexible combat gear. In the shadows of the hall, her eyes gleamed with the steely determination of a warrior.

The chime sounded again, louder this time, signaling that the intruders had bypassed the second layer of security. Lili’s lips curled into a small, almost imperceptible smile. Let them come, she thought.

She made her way to the main entrance of the mansion, where the ornate double doors loomed tall and imposing. With a flick of her wrist, she disengaged the last security lock, the final barrier between herself and the mercenaries who dared threaten her family. The doors creaked open, revealing the moonlit courtyard beyond.

In the distance, she could see them—figures moving through the shadows, sleek and silent like predators. They wore tactical gear, their faces hidden beneath helmets and masks. There were six of them, highly trained and heavily armed. But Lili was not intimidated. She had faced worse in her clandestine martial arts matches—opponents who had sought to break her, humiliate her. Yet, none had succeeded.

Tonight would be no different.

As the mercenaries approached, she stepped outside, the cool night air brushing against her skin. She stood alone in the courtyard, her figure illuminated by the moonlight, an ethereal yet dangerous presence. The lead mercenary, a tall man with broad shoulders, raised a hand, signaling his team to stop.

“You’ve come a long way for nothing,” Lili said,
