Shaak Ti: Serene Blade ANIMATION

Veils of the Silent Tide

Light fractured against the jade planes of Felucia’s dawn, and Shaak Ti stood unmoving where bioluminescent spores drifted like patient stars. The jungle whispered with its own counsel—soft clicks, petal-breaths, a thrum like a distant heart. She listened without hearing. Something had arrived that did not belong to this galaxy, and its presence bent the Force into a false smile.

She felt it not as a roar but as an invitation.

“Master,” said the voice behind her, young and careful. “The villagers won’t approach.”

Shaak Ti turned, lekku swaying, eyes reflecting the light in a way that unsettled even those who loved her. “They shouldn’t,” she replied. “Whatever is here prefers crowds.”

Padawan Rell Kasto swallowed. “Prefers?”

“It feeds on consent,” she said. “Or the illusion of it.”

They walked toward the village clearing, where great fungi formed arches and the air tasted faintly sweet. Felucians had gathered at a distance, watching with eyes that glittered too brightly. A woman stepped forward, her smile smooth and generous.

“Welcome, travelers,” the woman said. “We are honored.”

Shaak Ti inclined her head. “Honor is heavy. It crushes those who carry it too long.”

The woman’s smile tightened. “You speak riddles.”

“I speak warnings,” Shaak Ti said gently. “There is something in your midst.”

The woman’s gaze flickered. For an instant, the Force shuddered, and a thin sensation brushed Shaak Ti’s mind like silk dragged over a blade. She drew her hood back. “Do you feel that?” she asked Rell.

“I—” He pressed a hand to his temple. “It’s like… remembering something that never happened.”

The woman laughed. “You Jedi imagine threats where there are none.”

“Then let us imagine together,” Shaak Ti said. “Where did the new songs come from? The ones the children hum at night.”

Silence. Then, somewhere beyond the arches, a chorus rose—low, wordless, intimate. It felt like being known.

Shaak Ti closed her eyes and let the sound touch her. The Force curved around it, obedient and wrong. She followed the curve inward and found a presence folded like a starfish around a thought. A parasite, yes—but elegant. Ancient. It did not gnaw. It persuaded.

“I am called the Silent Tide,” said a voice within her mind. It sounded like her own, perfected. “You may call me beloved.”

Rell gasped. “Master?”

She steadied him with a hand. “Do not answer,” she said aloud, for the Tide could hear her thoughts. “Not yet.”

The woman in the clearing tilted her head. “You see? It speaks to you too.”

Shaak Ti met her gaze. “It speaks through you.”

That night, the jungle grew intimate. Bioluminescence pulsed with a rhythm that matched Shaak Ti’s heart. She sat apart from Rell, cross-legged, breathing through the ache behind her eyes. The Tide brushed her again, not forcing, always asking.

“You are beautiful in your restraint,” it murmured. “It is a form of seduction.”

“You mistake discipline for denial,” Shaak Ti replied silently. “I deny nothing.”

“Then allow me,” the Tide said. “Allow me to be your clarity.”

Images unfurled: a galaxy at peace, arguments resolved before they formed, grief softened into compliance. Jedi who no longer doubted. A Force without shadows.

“You would make the Force a lullaby,” Shaak Ti said. “And sleep is not peace.”

Rell stirred. “Master,” he whispered. “I keep thinking of my mother. She’s calling me home.”

Shaak Ti rose and knelt before him. “Listen to me. Whatever it offers, it will ask you to choose it freely. That choice is the wound.”

He nodded, tears bright. “It knows my name.”

“It knows everyone’s name,” Shaak Ti said. “Names are handles.”

By morning, the villagers had drawn closer. Their eyes shone with devotion. They touched one another with reverence, as if proximity were sacrament. The woman from before approached, palms open.

“We have decided,” she said. “We will host it. You should too.”

Shaak Ti studied her. “What did it promise you?”

The woman smiled with a tenderness that ached. “That my husband’s temper would never frighten me again. That my son’s anger would soften. That I would never be alone.”

Rell stepped forward. “It can’t keep that promise.”

The woman’s eyes flashed. “It already has.”

Shaak Ti felt the Tide’s attention sharpen. “You
