Black Cat: Silver-Touched Thief ANIMATION
Claws in the Shattered Dark
Gravity was a mere suggestion, and a rather poor one at that, in the decaying overlap of two incompatible realities. The sky above was a bruised, ultraviolet nightmare, bleeding thick drops of luminescent rain that fell upward, disappearing into the churning clouds. Where the gothic, brooding architecture of a city known as Gotham forcibly merged with the sleek, art-deco spires of Manhattan, the geometry had simply given up. Buildings twisted together like braided wire, their stone and steel screaming under the pressure of the multiversal anomaly.
Felicia Hardy crouched atop a gargoyle that boasted the half-melted face of a stone eagle and the horned visage of a demonic hound. Her striking platinum hair defied the reversed rain, framing a face of arresting, dangerous beauty. Clad in her signature midnight-black suit, lined with stark white fur that seemed to absorb the ambient, unnatural light, the Black Cat observed the impossible city with a mixture of professional intrigue and primal unease. Her razor-sharp claws rhythmically tapped against the weeping stone, producing a metallic clicking that echoed far louder than it should have in the dead, silent air.
"Your purr is a bit out of tune for my city, stranger," a voice murmured from the shadows. It was a voice like velvet dragged over broken glass, rich with cynical amusement and entirely devoid of fear.
Felicia did not startle. She slowly turned her head, offering a predatory, seductive smile to the darkness. "Darling, right now, 'your city' is busy eating mine. And frankly, the decor is atrocious."
Stepping from the bruised shadows of the fractured bell tower was Selina Kyle. The Catwoman moved with a fluid, hypnotic grace, her sleek, black leather suit gleaming with an oily iridescence in the ultraviolet gloom. She was a vision of lethal elegance, her emerald eyes narrowed in a gaze that missed absolutely nothing. A braided leather whip hung coiled at her hip, a coiled serpent waiting for an excuse to strike. The two master thieves sized each other up, a silent, electric current snapping between them. It was a mutual recognition of beauty, lethality, and an entirely shared lack of morals.
"I suppose an introduction is in order before we decide whether to kill each other," Selina said, taking a step closer. The air between them hummed, thick with the intoxicating, dangerous allure of two apex predators circling in a cage.
"Felicia. But the tabloids call me the Black Cat," she replied, her voice dropping an octave, honeyed and dangerous. She uncoiled her lithe frame, standing on the narrow stone perch with impossible balance. "And you must be the local talent. I admire the leather. Very pragmatic. Very... restrictive."
"Selina. And it does exactly what I need it to do," Catwoman purred, her lips curving into a smirk. "Which usually involves keeping out of the grip of local law enforcement. Though, considering the sky currently looks like a crushed plum, I think the police have bigger problems. Why are you trespassing in my apocalypse, Felicia?"
"I'm not here for the scenery," Felicia sighed, her smile fading into a grim line. The air around her seemed to darken, a subtle manifestation of the chaotic probability field that always lingered at her fingertips. "I was tracking a mark. A very unique, very lucrative gemstone known as the Eye of the Void. But the man who possessed it wasn't a man at all. When I cornered him in a Manhattan penthouse, reality simply unzipped. He stepped through the tear, and I followed. Now we are here, trapped in this architectural blender."
"An extradimensional thief," Selina murmured, her emerald eyes flashing with sudden, dark understanding. She stepped up onto the ledge, standing mere inches from Felicia. The proximity was deliberate, a test of nerves. Felicia could smell the faint scent of ozone, expensive perfume, and old copper emanating from the Gothamite. "That explains the husks."
"Husks?" Felicia arched a delicate, white eyebrow.
"Follow me," Selina commanded, turning on her heel and diving off the edge of the building without a moment's hesitation.
Felicia let out a soft, appreciative laugh, the thrill of the chase igniting in her veins. She threw herself off the gargoyle, her grappling line singing as she swung through the inverted rain, following the sleek silhouette of the Catwoman into the twisted bowels of the merged city.
They descended into a cavernous space that appeared to be a horrific ama
