Snow Valley School for Girls sat nestled amidst the frosted peaks of Vermont, a picture-perfect façade of Victorian elegance. But for Emma Frost, a scholarship student with a head full of secrets and a heart encased in ice, it was a gilded cage. Here, amidst the daughters of privilege, she was an outsider, her telepathic abilities a constant burden that isolated her more than any social barrier.

Emma, unlike her younger sister, Cordelia, lacked the warmth and charm that endeared them to others. Cordelia was sunshine personified, radiating a happiness that felt like a personal affront to Emma's cynicism. Their telepathic bond, once a source of comfort in their small, dysfunctional home, became a battleground. Cordelia's emotions – the joy, the excitement, the childish fear of the dark – bled into Emma's mind, a constant hum of noise she couldn't tune out.

One snowy afternoon, the sisters found themselves exploring the abandoned wing of the school. An unsettling aura clung to the deserted corridors, the whispers of past students echoing in Emma's head like ghosts. Suddenly, Cordelia gasped, pointing towards a heavy wooden door at the end of the hall. A sliver of moonlight peeked through a crack, revealing an inscription above the door: "The Repository."

Curiosity, a rare visitor in Emma's mind, warred with her natural caution. But before she could object, Cordelia, fueled by childhood daring, pushed the door open.

The room beyond was dark and dusty, filled with old books and scientific equipment. A large pentagram was etched on the floor, its lines glowing faintly with an otherworldly light. Emma felt a sudden prickle on her skin, a chill that went beyond the cold air. As they edged closer, a voice, raspy and disembodied, echoed in the room.

"Welcome, children," it rasped.

Cordelia, her face pale with fear, squeezed Emma's hand. The telepathic bond flared, a torrent of terror washing over Emma. Panicked, she lashed out with her own emotions, a wave of icy calm that momentarily stilled Cordelia's fear.

"Who's there?" Emma demanded, her voice surprisingly steady.

"An entity," the voice chuckled, a sound like dry leaves rustling in the wind. "One who can offer you power, girls, beyond your wildest dreams."

The entity's offer sparked a dark curiosity within Emma. Power – to control her own mind, to silence the endless noise of thoughts, to create a wall between her and the world. It was a tempting proposition.

But Cordelia, her fear receding slightly under Emma's influence, shook her head. "We don't want any part of this," she stammered.

The entity's laughter turned harsh, echoing through the room. "Leaving is not an option, children," it hissed. "You've entered my domain, and now you shall pay the price."

A wave of unseen energy surged through the room, slamming Cordelia against a wall. Emma screamed, an inarticulate cry that tore from her throat. But then, something strange happened. As the entity's energy assaulted them, a counterforce erupted from within Emma. A cold, white light pulsed from her mind, pushing back against the darkness.

The room shimmered, and for a fleeting moment, Emma saw the entity - a grotesque, formless creature, its tendrils of power swirling with a malevolent hunger. Then, in a blinding flash, the entity vanished, its scream echoing in their minds before fading into an eerie silence.

Cordelia was unconscious, her breathing shallow. Panic surged through Emma for a moment, but then, logic reasserted itself. She used her telepathy to gently prod Cordelia's mind, coaxing her back to consciousness.

The encounter left an indelible mark on both sisters. Cordelia was withdrawn and fearful, haunted by the entity's presence. But for Emma, a seed of something darker had been planted. The power she wielded, the ability to fight back, was intoxicating. It was a power she yearned to nurture, to control.

Years passed. Emma, her telepathic abilities honed to a sharp edge, excelled in her studies, a perfect blend of brilliance and icy pragmatism. She used her telepathy subtly, manipulating situations to her advantage, keeping Cordelia at a distance, both physically and emotionally. The bond remained, but it had become a weapon, a tool for control.

Then came Sebastian Shaw, a charismatic billionaire with a hidden agenda. Shaw, sensing the untapped potential within Emma, offered her a place at his private institute – a place where she could truly devel
