Licker: Tongue Terror ANIMATION
The Velvet Ossuary
Humidity in the Siren Wing felt like a wet shroud, smelling of ozone and the heavy, cloying scent of crushed lilies. Chris Redfield adjusted the weight of his combat shotgun, the weapon’s matte finish slick with a condensation that shouldn't have existed in a subterranean vault. This wasn't the sterile, white-tiled nightmare he was used to. Umbrella’s "Siren" facility was an experiment in aesthetic evolution—a place where the bio-organic weapons weren't just designed to kill, but to enthrall. The walls were lined with shattered vitrines, where bioluminescent moss crawled over the jagged remains of containment glass, casting the hallways in a rhythmic, pulsing indigo.
"Captain, do you hear that?" The voice of Dr. Aris Thorne crackled through the facility’s intercom, sounding more like a doting father than a rogue scientist. "She’s singing. Can you hear the resonance in her throat? Most of the specimens we created were cacophonous failures, but she... she is a sonata in sinew."
Chris ignored the madness in Thorne’s voice, his eyes scanning the ceiling. The overhead pipes were dripping a viscous, amber fluid that sizzled against his tactical vest. "I’m not here for the music, Thorne. I’m here to shut this place down. Where’s the Alpha?"
"She’s everywhere, Captain. She is the architecture of your demise," Thorne chuckled, the sound distorted by the failing speakers. "You’ve spent your life fighting monsters that look like accidents. Try not to blink. You wouldn’t want to miss a masterpiece."
A soft, melodic trill echoed from the darkness ahead. It wasn't the guttural, wet hiss of a standard Licker. It was something more complex—a multi-tonal vibration that vibrated in Chris's chest. He flicked on his weapon-mounted light. The beam cut through the indigo haze, landing on a creature perched atop a collapsed catwalk fifty feet away.
She was massive, easily twice the size of a standard specimen, but her proportions were terrifyingly elegant. Her skin wasn't the raw, flayed red of her cousins; it was a translucent, pearlescent pink, stretched tight over corded muscles that shimmered like polished marble. The exposed brain, usually a grotesque vulnerability, was encased in a crystalline sheath that caught the light, refracting it into a thousand tiny rainbows. She had no eyes, yet she turned her head toward him with the deliberate grace of a ballroom dancer.
"My God," Chris whispered, his finger tightening on the trigger.
"Careful, Captain," Thorne whispered through the speakers. "She’s sensitive to heartbeat. She finds your pulse... seductive. It’s the rhythm of a man who refuses to lay down and die. She’s never tasted such a stubborn tempo."
The Alpha Licker, which Thorne had dubbed 'The Orchid,' shifted. Her claws, ten inches of curved, obsidian-black bone, didn't scrape the metal; they tapped it, a percussive greeting. Then, she spoke. It wasn't language, not truly, but a series of mimicked sounds pulled from the facility’s archives.
"Help... me..." the creature chirped, the voice perfectly imitating a frightened woman. Then, in a jarring transition to Thorne’s own baritone: "The beauty... is the... end."
"Clever girl," Chris muttered. He fired.
The buckshot tore through the air, but the Orchid was no longer there. She moved with a liquid velocity that defied the physics of her bulk. She didn't just crawl; she flowed across the walls, her body a blur of iridescent muscle. Chris swung the barrel, tracking the movement, but the creature was playing with the shadows. She dropped from the ceiling behind him, the impact of her landing silent, dampened by the fleshy pads of her digitigrade limbs.
Chris spun, swinging the stock of his shotgun. It connected with her chest—not with the dull thud of meat, but with a sound like a heavy bell being struck. The Orchid didn't recoil. She leaned into the blow, her long, muscular neck snaking forward. Her tongue, a six-foot ribbon of serrated muscle tipped with a barbed barb, didn't lash out to kill. It drifted through the air, undulating like a ribbon in a light breeze, inches from Chris's face.
"She’s smelling you, Captain," Thorne’s voice was breathless. "She’s tasting the adrenaline in your sweat. Most men die of terror before she touches them. But you? You’re a feast of defiance."
"I’ve got a different kind of dessert for her," Chris spat. He pulled the pin on a flash-grenade and dropped it at his feet.
