The flickering distress beacon, a beacon of sizzling heat against the inky blackness of space, tugged at Ember with an unnatural intensity. Tenno protocol dictated ignoring unidentified signals, prioritizing known Grineer or Corpus threats. But this… this was different.
It sang to her, a siren call of dancing flames whispering promises of forgotten power. Ember, her fiery form encased in flowing red armor, tapped her foot impatiently on the Liset's bridge. "Ordis," she said, her voice a low rumble, "plot a course for the source of that signal."
Ordis, the cephalon AI that hummed within the Liset, hesitated. "Operator," it rasped, its voice a digitized monotone, "the signal originates from Tau Ceti f – a desolate, fire-scorched world devoid of life."
"Then why the distress beacon?" Ember countered, a flicker of urgency in her voice. "There's something Ordis, something calling out." She felt it deep within, a resonance with the sizzling signal that burned brighter with every passing moment.
Ordis remained silent for a moment, his processors whirring. Finally, he conceded. "Very well, Operator. Course plotted. Estimated arrival time – three hours."
Three hours of anticipation stretched into an eternity. Ember paced the bridge, her flames flickering restlessly. The closer they got to Tau Ceti f, the hotter it became – not a scorching heat, but a pervasive warmth that seeped into her very being. The signal, once a faint flicker, now pulsed with an intensity that made her skin tingle.
As the desolate planet filled the viewport, Ember felt a strange mixture of awe and dread. Tau Ceti f was a world ravaged by fire. Vast plains of obsidian stretched endlessly, punctuated by jagged volcanic spires that still spewed molten rock. The atmosphere, a thick haze of ash and smoke, churned with a malevolent energy.
"Operator," Ordis warned, "atmospheric conditions are unstable. Landing is not recommended."
Ember ignored him. "Deploy landing craft," she commanded, her voice firm. The landing craft plunged through the thick atmosphere, the heat intensifying with every passing second. The ground, when they finally touched down, felt like a giant furnace, radiating a heat that threatened to melt the craft's hull.
Ember emerged into a landscape of desolation. The air crackled with an electrical energy, and the ground shimmered with a heat haze that distorted the view. In the distance, a solitary black monolith rose from the ashen plains, its surface etched with strange, glowing runes. The source of the signal.
As Ember drew closer, the runes pulsed with a rhythmic glow, a hypnotic light show that seemed to drill into her mind. Visions, fleeting and fragmented, flashed before her – a world ablaze, creatures of molten rock writhing in agony, a being of pure fire reaching out with a silent plea.
The ground beneath her feet began to crackle, and molten rock started bubbling up through the fissures. Before Ember could react, a fiery tendril erupted from the ground, wrapping itself around her leg. Panic threatened to consume her, but years of Tenno training took over.
Embracing the flames within, Ember channeled her power. A wave of scorching heat erupted from her, incinerating the fiery tendril. She unleashed a torrent of fire, a miniature inferno that momentarily pushed back the encroaching flames.
Taking a deep breath, Ember raced towards the monolith, the heat pressing down on her like a suffocating blanket. The runes pulsed faster, the images in her mind becoming clearer – a warning, a plea for help from a dying world consumed by a malevolent force.
Reaching the monolith, Ember placed her hand on its surface. The runes flared to life, burning searingly into her palm. A surge of energy shot through her, a torrent of raw power unlike anything she had ever experienced. Images flooded her mind – a forgotten civilization, a race who worshipped fire, a catastrophic event that unleashed an entity of pure flame.
The entity, trapped within the planet's core, was slowly consuming it, turning Tau Ceti f into a burning pyre. The distress beacon, a desperate plea for help, a gamble that someone, anyone, would hear their call.
And Ember had heard.
With newfound knowledge and a surge of power coursing through her veins, Ember knew what she had to do. This wasn't a rescue mission; it was a fight for survival. She wasn't just fighting for a dying world; she was fighting against an entity that could potentially threate
